Tim Watkins, resident and native to Palmer Lake, CO, was out for a mountain bike ride on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at approximately 11:30am. He stopped at a bank in Monument, CO on his way to the trail. He rode up Mt. Herman Rd. to Limbaugh Canyon trail. Once on Limbaugh Canyon trail, he was shot and killed. His body and bike were moved after the murder, to different locations, though likely not far from where he was shot. His bike was discovered on Saturday, September 16, 2017 and his body was located on Sunday, September 17, 2017. The manner of death was determined to be homicide and cause of death was gunshot wound(s). One of his bike shoes, cell phone case, and Safeway Club card were discarded on nearby Mt. Herman Rd.
