Humberto Rodriguez-Martinez is wanted for the homicide of his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, 32-year-old Daniel Reyes. This case is being publicized in support of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Circumstances of Offense:
Authorities say that Humberto along with Adan Zapot-Leyva were lying in wait for Daniel to leave the residence of Humberto’s ex-girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend called Adan who falsely claimed that he and Humberto had left the area hours earlier. Authorities say that this was a deliberate ruse to lure Daniel outside. Once Daniel went outside, authorities allege that Humberto along with Adam attacked Daniel as they chased him. Daniel begged for his life as he was being beaten, saying that he had kids. Humberto then allegedly stabbed Daniel ten times, killing him. In 2023, Adan pleaded guilty and received a sentence of 15 years-to-life. As of this posting. Humberto’s murder case in Orange County’s court records database is in warrant and fugitive status with no plea, disposition or hearings. Humberto’s car was found in San Diego and he may have fled to Mexico.
