Case Disposition:

According to the Rusk County Sheriff’s office, on Thursday, Jan 20, members of the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office, along with Texas Rangers and a forensic anthropologist from the University of North Texas, responded to a wooded area on property located near Richey Lane, in the Reklaw Community. “Looks like she walked down the Angelina River’s edge about a mile,” Flint said. “And the place I guess they found her, I don’t know exactly because I didn’t get to go exactly where she was found, but it was explained to me that it was pretty rough to get to.” James Flint, son, said authorities recovered a skull and a jawbone.

Summary:

Kimberly C. Flint was a 57-year-old Caucasian female with graying brown hair and hazel eyes from Laneville, Texas. She was last heard from on September 26, 2018 by her husband, and shortly after, her car was found crashed into a concrete guardrail on Highway 84, east of Reklaw, Texas. Her remains were recovered on January 20, 2022, and confirmed via DNA testing and dental recognition on January 27, 2022, with no foul play suspected.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Kimberly Flint was last heard from on September 26, 2018 by her husband. Her husband was the last to speak to her at 3 p.m. Not long after, Flint left the house in her 2016 black Jeep Grand Cherokee, with her purse, ID, and other possessions left at her home. At 3:45 p.m., highway patrol responded to a one-vehicle crash on highway 84, with the Jeep Grand Cherokee found crashed into a cement guardrail on the side of Highway 84 near the Angelina River bridge. Kimberly was nowhere to be found. The car was found in neutral, with both sets of keys inside. Her purse with everything still inside, phone on the arm of a chair, and charger wrapped around it were found at the home. Later that evening, she was reported missing by her husband and son.

Additional Details:

Her husband and son met with the Sheriff's Office to give a description of Kimberly for a missing person's report to the National Crime Information Center. Investigation from the scene indicated Flint was traveling at 83 miles per hour when she crashed, according to the sheriff's office. Her son Corbett, a retired Marine Military Police officer, went to his mother's home for investigation and found nothing out of the ordinary. The family put up a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to finding Kim Flint. Kim, who suffered from various medical conditions, had given up driving months before. Drones, search dogs, and equipment such as all-terrain vehicles were previously used to search the area, and James speculated that his mother walked to her final resting location on her own. Flint's husband of 40 years, James Roy, died in August 2021, just months before his wife's remains were located. On January 20, law enforcement received a call about possible human remains in a wooded area near Richey Lane, near the Reklaw Community in Rusk County, and Sheriff's deputies, along with Texas Rangers and a team of forensic anthropologists, recovered remains that were confirmed human via DNA testing and dental recognition on January 27. The site of the vehicle crash was approximately one mile from where Flint's remains were located. Valdez told KLTV there were no signs of foul play.
