Circumstances of Disappearance:

The last time Aneisah Khan saw her mother, Wendy Lynn Khan, was on May 31, 2018. They ran some errands and she came to a doctor's appointment with Aneisah, then returned to her house with her boyfriend, Mohammed Bilal Chughtai, who came home and asked Aneisah to leave, threatening to call the police. The two had contact the next day, Friday, June 1, both over text and on the phone. On Saturday, Aneisah couldn't reach her mother who wasn't answering her phone; when she went to her house, nothing was there—not her car, nothing, and no one answered the door. On June 3, 2018, Aneisah Khan filed the missing person's report with the Mankato Department of Public Safety. On June 7, a week after Wendy's disappearance, her black 2011 Nissan Sentra was found abandoned in the parking lot behind a CVS pharmacy in the 200 block of Belle Avenue in Mankato with a flat tire and police determined it had been punctured with a blade. Almost all her belongings were left behind, including her pet cats; her purse and cellular phone are unaccounted for but Wendy hasn't used the phone or her financial accounts; the last time she accessed her bank account was May 30, her phone has not been used since June 2.

Wendy and Chughtai, a Pakistani immigrant who moved to the United States in the 1980s, had an on-and-off relationship over the years, and Wendy moved in with Chughtai in December 2017—the first time they had lived together and dated exclusively; within six months of moving in, Wendy told Aneisah the relationship wasn't working and Chughtai planned to sell his house. Mohammad Bilal Chughtai was the last person seen with Wendy Khan; on July 10, 2018, roughly one month after Wendy Khan went missing, he sold his home on the 100 block of West Ninth Street in Mankato. A background check on Chughtai shows no activity following the July 2018 sale of his Mankato home—he has not registered an address or used his social security number for work purposes. Mohammad Bilal Chughtai was convicted in Texas in 2006 on charges related to evading arrest and domestic assault; after failing to appear in court, a probation violation notice was issued on July 6, 2018, resulting in a warrant for his arrest—two days before Chughtai sold his Mankato home. Chughtai has misdemeanor convictions for domestic assault, stalking and violating a restraining order. In January 2026, Chughtai, 59, was booked into the Blue Earth County Jail on outstanding warrants based on two active warrants related to stalking and probation violations that are not directly connected to Khan's disappearance. The disappearance of Wendy Khan is the only active missing persons case in the entire city of Mankato, and it's remained a total mystery since Wendy vanished nearly six years ago. The Mankato Department of Public Safety has an open investigation into the disappearance of Wendy Khan; however, without evidence of foul play, the case is not classified as criminal.
