Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Giedre Raguckaite arrived in Ireland from the UK in early March 2018, initially residing in Drogheda before moving to College Heights, Hoey's Lane, Dundalk at the end of April 2018. She moved out of that accommodation on May 23-24, 2018. On the evening of Tuesday, May 29, 2018, she made contact with a friend and at approximately 6:35pm called her father in Lithuania. She explained that she had been in a hotel or licensed premises that day for dinner and was socialising. The location of this premises is unknown, but gardaí believe she was in the Dundalk area until approximately 8pm. She was last seen at approximately 11pm on the night of May 29, 2018, being assisted into a house in the Laytown area, County Meath, by two men. She is understood to have been intoxicated at the time. It is believed she left that house with the men at approximately 1:45am on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. There have been no sightings or contact with Giedre since that time. Her phone has not been in use since the morning of May 30, 2018, and there has been no activity on her social media accounts or contact with any family or friends.

Additional Details:

Giedre was not reported missing until August 22, 2018, three months after her disappearance, when a Lithuanian National who resided in Dundalk reported her to the Dundalk Gardaí. A missing person investigation commenced under the supervision of Detective Inspector Martin Beggy from the incident room in Dundalk. In November 2018, the case was upgraded to a murder investigation, and the Garda Technical Bureau examined a house in the Beach Grove Estate, Laytown, County Meath as part of the investigation. Gardaí believe Giedre was unconscious when she entered the property with two Lithuanian men and stated that these men were known to her. On January 10, 2022, gardaí arrested a man in connection with her disappearance. The man was detained at a Garda station in the Midlands and could be detained for up to 24 hours. He was later released without charge, and gardaí indicated a file would be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. Gardaí have carried out over 170 lines of enquiry, including liaising with the PSNI, UK Police Forces, Interpol, the Lithuanian Police Force, and the Lithuanian Embassy. Crimestoppers has launched an appeal for information treating the case as a murder investigation. Gardaí believe she is dead and her remains were disposed of.
