Additional Details:
Chandice was living with her mother at the time. Her mother went to work that morning and when she returned home she found a note on the counter that stated, "Mom, I took off for a little while. I'm in good hands, I promise. Be back shortly, please don't worry, no need to. Call if you need me. Love you, Chan." Chandice did not take any of her personal belongings with her, only a change purse and her cell phone. Sutton is approximately a 20 minute drive from Birch River. When you get off the exit for Birch River, the Fire Department and Sam Kelly's home are to your left and Widen Dillie Rd is directly off of the exit to the right, when coming from Sutton. There is no mention of how they got to Sam Kelly's home, but they did leave there walking. It is believed that the for the duration of their walk they were on Widen Dillie Rd, this is where Speas was picked up the following morning. Police have conducted extensive searches in the Birch River area and along Widen-Dille Road. Speas was later arrested and taken into custody on unrelated charges. He has been interviewed several times by police but maintains that he does not remember anything after approximately 2 AM, due to being under the influence of drugs at the time. Speas has not been charged in her disappearance. There is no proof that Chandice is alive or deceased. Senior Trooper Caleb Harper is the Lead Investigator for WV State Police Sutton Detachment
