Summary:
Mateusz Lugowski was a 16-year-old schoolboy from Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England who disappeared on January 19, 2020. Last seen near Chantry Bridge in Wakefield city centre, his disappearance was described as completely out of character. Despite extensive police searches involving specialist teams, divers, helicopters, and drones, he remains missing.

Circumstances of Disappearance:
Mateusz Lugowski was last seen on the 19th of January, 2020, close to Chantry Bridge, in Wakefield city centre. CCTV footage issued by police shows Mateusz travelling by bus into Wakefield, before passing by Domino's on Chantry Bridge at 15:20. Mateusz was last seen on CCTV at 3.14pm on Sunday, 19 January, near the Domino's Pizza in the Chantry Bridge area of Wakefield. He was then seen at 3.20pm by two school friends close to the river behind the Evans Halshaw garage. He was going shopping to a Polish supermarket in the city centre, he spoke to his mum 20 minutes before he vanished and was still talking about shopping to her. However, Mateusz was not at the supermarket when he disappeared. Despite speaking to his friends, family and witnesses, this is the last confirmed sighting of Mateusz. He has not been seen since.
Additional Details:
West Yorkshire Police used specialist search teams, dogs, drones, helicopters and divers in their efforts to find him. Friends and neighbours also rallied around the teenager's family, launching a 'Come home Mateusz Lugowski' Facebook page. He also runs the Come home Mateusz Lugowski Facebook page which has more than 5,000 members, with Tanya Sharif. All active lines of enquiries have now been explored and we continue to support Mateusz's family at this challenging and difficult time. Police say they are no longer looking for anyone else in connection with Mateusz's disappearance, but the efforts of his community are ongoing. Having spoke to Mateusz's father last week, she shared he "still has hope" and that he feels grateful for everyone's help.
