Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Garcia was last seen on Ithica Drive with his cousin on December 26, 2020. They were outside talking together when the cousin went back inside and Jackson never did. Garcia lived with his grandmother Jean Brown, who was the last to hear from him around 5:30 p.m. Saturday night. When she asked if he was coming home, he said, 'Yes, Nanny. I'll see you in a little bit.' At approximately 7:00 p.m., Garcia was last seen outside a residence on Ithica Drive with his cousin, talking and walking a dog. When his cousin went inside to retrieve a jacket and returned, Brent was gone. He disappeared without his medications and his phone was left behind at his cousin's house.
Additional Details:
On December 28, 2020, his mother filed a missing person's report with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office when she couldn't contact him. Aerial, foot, and K9 searches were conducted by authorities in the area Garcia was last seen, as well as in the nearby 15 South area. According to his family, Garcia had a history of mental illness and suffered from severe anxiety and depression. Authorities received multiple reports of sightings of Jackson "Brent" Garcia around the time he went missing, but none have been confirmed. Several people reported seeing Brent in neighboring Kershaw County, specifically around the Wal-Mart in Camden, but none of those sightings were ever confirmed, and there were no other sightings reported after December 31st. Investigators retrieved Brent's cell phone from his cousin's house and sent it for processing. His mother knows they were able to retrieve data from the phone, but she doesn't know what exactly they found. His mother, Angel Brown, has created a group called Brent's Army that advocates for missing people in the Sumter County area. In December of 2020, Jackson "Brent" Garcia was living in Sumter County, South Carolina, working at Little Caesars Pizza and dreaming of one day becoming a veterinarian.
