Summary:
Gabriel Hernandez is wanted for the homicide of 43-year-old Ruben Hernandez and the attempted homicide of Ruben’s 11-year-old daughter. (Gabriel and Ruben share the same surname but are not related).
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Offense:
Authorities say that Gabriel and his associates went to Ruben’s residence. The reason was that they believed an individual who once lived in the home had murdered their friend. Ruben and his family had recently moved into the home, but were completely law-abiding people and had no ties to criminal activity. Despite this, Gabriel tried to get inside the home while Ruben was blocking his entry. Gabriel then allegedly fired several gunshots into the home, killing Ruben who was protecting his family and injuring his 11-year-old daughter, striking her near the neck and spine. The young girl was transported to a trauma center where she survived her injuries. The following day, authorities say that the suspects fired gunshots into another residence. Fortunately, no one was injured or killed in that incident. Gabriel’s three suspected accomplices have since been arrested, including one that was found in Tijuana, Mexico. It is believed that Gabriel himself has also fled to Mexico. As of this posting, Gabriel’s PC187 (murder) case in Riverside County’s court records database is in warrant status, confirming he is still at large.
Additional Details:
Anyone with information on Gabriel’s whereabouts should contact the Cathedral City Police Department at (760) 770-0300. Gabriel should be considered extremely dangerous. Please consider sharing this so that Ruben’s family can get justice and answers in their loved one’s case. I hope that Ruben is always remembered for his life, including as a father who protected his family and tragically gave his life doing so.
