Circumstances of Disappearance:

On the night she disappeared, Cynthia Bah-Traore was captured on surveillance camera walking around the Shell gas station around 10:30 pm. She was last seen on a Shell Gas station's surveillance footage located at 1003 E Criner St. in Grandview, Texas, wearing a blue long-sleeve shirt, black pants, gray with white shoes, and carrying a red purse with plaid markings. She was driving a Mazda CX-5 with Texas license plate NMJ 3883. Her phone was reportedly discovered at the gas station. Cynthia's son reported that his mother never returned home after running errands. Cynthia was reported missing to the Crowley Police Department by her family on February 6, 2021.

Additional Details:

When family reached out to Cynthia's estranged husband, he told them she was in the hospital, but a nurse informed them that she wasn't there. On February 16, 2021, at approximately 2:35 a.m., a Texas Highway Patrol trooper discovered Cynthia's dark blue 2017 Mazda CX-5 SUV abandoned along Interstate 35 near mile marker 355 in Waco, Texas. The vehicle was found during the ongoing historic Texas winter storm, which had brought severe freezing conditions, ice, and widespread power outages from February 11 to 20. The car's condition raised immediate questions: the keys were left inside, the battery was dead, and it had apparently run out of gas, with no visible signs of struggle or forced entry reported in initial assessments. Family and friends asked the Crowley Police Department to conduct a DNA test on Cynthia's car. Police stated they dusted for finger prints but refused to obtain DNA from the car. Police noted that someone appeared to have wiped the car to remove fingerprints. In May 2024, a FBI agent was assigned to Cynthia's case and received a 75 page police report from Crowley Police. As of February 2026 the FBI agent has never called any of Cynthia's family members or friends. As of February 2025, Cynthia Bah-Traore's disappearance remains unresolved, with no confirmed sightings, recovery of remains, or identification of new suspects by the Crowley Police Department, which continues to classify the case as active.
