Summary:

On Thanksgiving Day 2021, my mother, Alejandra H. Medina, was brutally murdered in Roswell, New Mexico. From the beginning, the investigation was mishandled. The house — the primary crime scene — was released by police the very same day. Two of my sisters, not realizing the importance of preserving evidence, cleaned it immediately. This destroyed potential evidence that could have been crucial to the case.

Additional Details:

Even more disturbing, male DNA was found under my mother’s fingernails, yet police did not request further testing to identify the source. This is a serious investigative failure that may have allowed the killer to walk free. The main suspect — my brother, Elijah Medina — was released without charges July 18, 2025. The last time my aunts saw my mother was Wednesday, November 24, 2021. She left home that evening to cook for Elijah. That was also the last time my family spoke with her. On Thursday, November 25, 2021, a mechanic who knew my mother went to her house to repair a cement mixer. He later said it was unusual that my mother didn’t come out to greet him, since she was always a very welcoming person. Elijah was home all day. The mechanic noticed he smelled of alcohol and even took him out to buy more alcohol. According to Elijah, on Friday, November 26, 2021, around 4 a.m., he woke up, went outside to smoke a cigarette, and noticed some boards in the distance. When he went to look, he saw what he first thought was a doll under the boards. Upon realizing it was my mother’s body, he called 911. When police arrived at the house, it took Elijah several minutes to open the gate for them. Once inside, he told officers he hadn’t heard anything unusual. He also told police that my mother had gone to my aunts’ house for Thanksgiving dinner, which was not true. In reality, my aunt had called my mother several times that day to invite her, but she never answered. As a last attempt, my aunt sent a message inviting both my mother and Elijah to dinner, but the message was never answered. Police searched the property. No one else was there, there was no sign of forced entry, and nothing had been stolen. My mother’s wallet, with cash inside, was untouched. Her three cars were still at the house. Officers also noted that the home smelled strongly of chemicals, as if it had just been cleaned. My mother’s case has now stalled, with no justice in sight.
