Circumstances of Offense:
D'Andre and a few friends were traveling westbound on W 7th Street towards Congress Ave, at approximately 2:30 am. As D'Andre passed through the intersection of W 7th Street and Colorado Street, a group of three males said something to D'Andre, causing him to stop. One of D'Andre's friends stopped to help him. A physical fight ensued between two of the males and D'Andre's friend. While the fight was occurring in the roadway, another male, described as a black male with dreadlocks, pulled a knife from his waistband and threatened D'Andre with it. D'Andre started to flee the scene, but returned when the male with the knife threatened D'Andre's friend. D'Andre attempted to intervene to help his friend, who was now in danger of being seriously injured. As D'Andre approached, the male with the knife attacked him, stabbing him once in the chest. D'Andre ran away, mortally injured. He collapsed near the intersection of Brazos and E 6th Street. Austin PD officers responded and began first aid. D'Andre was transported to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
Additional Details:
The three suspects are described as a black male, of average height and build, with long dreadlocks; a skinny white male with long, straight, blonde hair; and a short Hispanic male with short, curly, black hair and apparent blonde highlights. The white and Hispanic male arrived together in a silver 2003-2007 Honda Accord. The three suspects fled the scene together in the Honda, traveling eastbound on 7th Street towards I-35. The Hispanic male was the driver of the Honda.
