Circumstances of Offense:
Authorities say that Cassidy’s father had picked up his daughters from school when he got into a road rage incident with Sidney. Sidney pulled up behind Cassidy’s father at a red light. Sidney then went up to the car and punched Cassidy’s father through an open window. The father got out of the car and pulled out a folding knife to defend himself. Sidney had his arms on the father’s neck, and the father injured Sidney with the knife in self-defence. The father tried to drive away but Sidney went back to his Jeep and got a gun. Sidney fired gunshots at the father’s car, striking and killing Cassidy. Sidney was able to post bail after being arrested and fled. His case went to trial without him being present and he was convicted in absentia of second-degree murder. It is believed that Sidney is hiding out in Mexico. As of this posting, he has an active failure to appear warrant in Maricopa County’s court records database.
