The rumor surrounding his murder is that he flirted with a woman who told her abusive partner. Two men were involved and shot him eight times front and back of head and chest. He also had a broken femur.

David was in an empty house he had trespassed in to because of freezing temperatures. He was double-layered in clothing. The two men parked in an area with no cameras, had weapon and bullets wiped clean, phones turned off. They were in and out of the house quickly.

City of Spokane Police Department November 6, 2023 · Detectives investigating apparent homicide after body discovered in vacant house On 11-4-23, at approximately 10:30AM, SPD responded to a vacant residence near E Lyons Ave and N Napa St in Northeast Spokane on the report of a deceased person found inside. Officers located an adult male victim as well as signs indicating the death was the result of homicide. Posted in newspaper: SPD’s Major Crimes Unit detectives, as well as the Spokane County Forensic Unit, responded to the scene. After a search warrant was obtained, the scene was processed for evidence. The investigation is on-going, and information about the victim will be released by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office at a later date. Spokesman 2024 November Linsey David “Davy” Callaway, 46, was shot and killed at a vacant house in the 1900 block of East Lyons on Nov. 4. He had $38 in his pocket. His killing has not resulted in any arrests. At the time, Callaway was unhoused, mentally ill and likely addicted to drugs, according to his mother, Lark Pogue. He had left his home in Texas 10 years prior and found Spokane, where he seemed to be happy. Pogue said he still struggled because he had bipolar disorder, which made everyday life extremely difficult to manage. “He was very, very nice. He always thought of other people. He was considerate until he would have a mania period,” Pogue said. “He loved camping and fishing. … He loved animals.”
