Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Offense:

While out on bond in April 2023, Ullrich cut off his court-ordered ankle monitor and disappeared just before his scheduled court appearance. Clay County Sheriff deputies conducted a welfare check at Johnathan Ullrich's residence in Celina, Tennessee, and he wasn't there. Deputies found his GPS monitoring device lying beside a note which indicated, in part, "I can't do this anymore." Other letters were also found indicating that Ullrich may be in the Dale Hollow Lake area. On April 27th, 2023, the ankle monitor was removed and a note was found, claiming that Jonathan was planning to die by suicide. He gave the name of a cliff that led to a quarry of water, but nothing was found. He should be considered as potentially armed and dangerous; he's made previous statements indicating he may be violent and suicidal, the DA said. Cooper said Ullrich may be in Kentucky, which is across the Clay County, Tennessee, border.

Additional Details:

The former Fairview Elementary teacher was initially arrested in 2021 and charged with six counts of sexual battery. At the time, a Maury County Grand Jury indicted Ullrich for sexual contact with a child under the age of 13 between April of 2017 and December of 2020 in Maury County. Later that same year, a Maury County Grand Jury indicted Ullrich on 27 counts involving multiple sex crimes against two children under the age of 13. Sources confirmed to News 2 that the children were related to Ullrich. He was indicted on 21 charges last December and released on a $350,000 bond, according to WTVF. Earlier this year, Ullrich allegedly barricaded himself inside his home for hours when police tried to serve an order of protection related to the charges against him. He also tried unsuccessfully to buy a gun after the order was finally served. His initial disappearance in 2023 led to widespread alerts, and as of today, he remains on the run—prompting renewed urgency from law enforcement and public safety agencies. Ullrich is believed to have connections across Middle and East Tennessee as well as in New York and Alaska. He could also be in the area of the Tennessee-Kentucky border in Clay County, previously resided in Culleoka, and "has been known to frequently stay at Tennessee State Parks, including Henry Horton and Fall Creek Falls."
