Lovely Andreya Brooks, a transgender woman also known as Angie, was last seen leaving her home in Richmond, Virginia on January 10, 2023. The Richmond Police Department suspects foul play in her disappearance. She has never been seen or heard from again.
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
On January 10, 2023, Lovely Brooks was last seen by her father when she left their home in the 1000 block of Barlen Drive in Richmond, Virginia. Everything seemed normal, and it appeared as if she was planning to come back soon. The only thing she might have had on her was her purse. Her suitcase and everything was still at home, so she definitely intended to come back. She left most of her belongings behind, including her luggage and cellular phone charger, but did take her phone and purse with her. Lovely never returned home and hasn't been heard from since.
Additional Details:
Lovely Andreya Brooks began identifying as a transgender female at the age of eighteen. At the time of her disappearance, Brooks was living with her aging father, whom she was taking care of. Her sister reported that she was upset over the death of their mother. On Tuesday, January 17, her niece (who was also staying with Angie and their father) grew concerned and called Angie's sister, Pam Harris. Pam reported Angie missing to the Richmond Police Department the next day. At the time of her disappearance, Angie didn't have a regular mode of transportation. Her bank account has been inactive since January 10, 2023, aside from automatic social security disability deposits. Investigators have checked Angie's phone records but cannot elaborate on findings because the case is still open. Detective Key stated they have "a couple" persons of interest in the case, however, "we can't go in any details right now because we're following up on different types of records." The last major update in the case came in May 2023, when investigators said they'd identified a few persons of interest. Currently, Angie's case is classified as endangered missing, with foul play suspected, given how uncharacteristic her disappearance is.
