On June 15, 2013, around 3:00 a.m., Shannon Nicole McClure was dropped off at the Walmart in Sheridan, Wyoming by her husband and his father. According to their account, she requested to be dropped off there so she could stay overnight with her sister, Jennifer. However, her sister was out of town and had no knowledge of Shannon wanting to visit. Detectives reviewed surveillance video from the Walmart on the night of Shannon's disappearance but were unable to determine if she ever arrived at the store. Shannon was reported missing on June 17, 2013.

Shannon left behind a one-year-old son and three stepdaughters. According to law enforcement, she did not have access to credit cards when she went missing and had only a small amount of money, if any. Her disappearance is considered highly suspicious.
