Katheryn (Katie) had been visiting family in Alabama for the summer and was traveling back home (Cody, Wyoming) with her two small children and ex-boyfriend (Adam Shane Aviles Jr). Aviles and the children made it to Cody, WY but Katie did not. Katie was believed to be ok in the area of Trumann, Arkansas on October 5, 2023 and possible violence occurred on or before October 9, 2023 when Adam's vehicle (1999 Dodge Durango, black) was seen with a projectile defect on the front passenger door. Katie's current location is unknown.

Circumstances of Disappearance:
Adam Aviles, Katie Ferguson and her two small children had been in Dothan, Alabama visiting her family for the summer. Upon the return to Cody, Wyoming, Katie was not with Adam or her children. Katie was reported missing on 11/02/23 by her mom (Mona H.) to Cody Police Department (Wyoming).
Additional Details:
On 11/04/23, someone reported Adam's vehicle abandoned in Park County. Deputies responded to investigate and observed the front passenger seat was missing, a projectile hole was on the inside and outside of the front passenger door, a loaded Glock .45 pistol magazine was in the car and the car smelled of "putrefied blood" which was later confirmed by lab techs as human blood from an unknown source. While deputies were still investigating, Adam walked up to the car with a gas can and said he was there because the Durango ran out of gas and was inoperable. Adam was arrested on November 8, 2023 in Wyoming on the suspicion of drug possession and unauthorized use of someone else's vehicle and booked into the Park County Detention Center. A web search indicates that Aviles has multiple drug (heroin/meth) related arrests. It was reported on 11/14/23 that federal charges of possession of a firearm by a felon were being added against Adam. NAMUS CASE # MP111971

Timeline of Events
The US Attorney for Wyoming is federally charging Adam with being a felon in possession of a firearm due to 2017 conviction for felony heroin possession.
Adam Aviles arrested on suspicioun of drugs and stolen vehicle use
A forensic interview or the 4-year-old daughter of Katie and Adam included a statement about Adam accidentally hurting Katie.
While PCSO was still with the Durango, Aviles walked up with a gas canister and said he was there to fill it up because it ran out of gas and was inoperable.
Adam's 1999 Black Dodge Durango was reported abandoned to the Park County Sheriff's Office.
PCSO responded to the abandoned Durango and found the front passenger seat was missing, a Glock pistol magazine, had the smell of "putrefied blood", and had a "projectile hole" on the inside and outside of the front passenger door.
Cody PD responds to Adams' house and finds him working on his 1999 Dodge Durango.
Katie's mom reported her missing to Cody Police Department
A Colorado State Police trooper contacted Adam and Katie was not in the vehicle.
Texas Trooper stopped Adam for driving on the wrong side of the road and on an improved shoulder. He was cited for a child safety seat violation
A Trumann, Arkansas police officer contacted Adam, Katie and the kids in the Durango while stopped in a parking lot to check on them. Body cam showed the Durango without a projectile hole in the passenger door.
Approximate date Katie left Alabama with Adam and the two kids.
Katie left Cody, WY with her mom and two kids to stay with family in Newton, Alabama.
