Circumstances of Offense:

Authorities say that Chavis was driving with his pregnant girlfriend when another vehicle pulled up beside them. The occupants of that vehicle fired gunshots into Chavis’s vehicle. Chavis was tragically killed while shielding his girlfriend from the gunfire. Three suspects have since been arrested for their alleged involvement, including two juveniles who will be prosecuted as adults. Chavis’s homicide might have been a case of mistaken identity and he and his girlfriend did not know the alleged suspects. Warrants have also been issued for Arshaun Bradley and Quartze Washington. As of this posting, their murder cases in Missouri’s court records database has no disposition and no docket entries since April of 2024 (which means they are still wanted). One of the two fugitives, presumably Arshaun may be in Chicago. It has been confirmed that Quartze fled to Texas and then California. UPDATE: Quartze was arrested in Danville, Illinois on March 30, 2025.
