Summary:

On March 25, 2023 at approximately 12:16am, officers were dispatched to Riverside Hospital on the report of a walk-in gunshot victim. The victim's wife stated that they were in their vehicle at the Family Dollar, in the 1400 Block of Oakland Park Ave in Columbus, OH when they heard a loud bang and realized the victim had been shot. The victim was initially expected to survive his injuries.

Circumstances of Offense:

Travis Rush was brought to the local hospital by his wife, Heather Hardwick. He went into emergency surgery to be treated for a gun shot wound where they ended up removing half of his stomach in an attempt to save his life. His wife was questioned by police and she stated that Travis was shot in the parking lot of a local Family Dollar Store by an “unknown” & “unseen” individual.

Additional Details:

On April 7, 2023, at approximately 4:42pm, Travis Rush succumbed to his injuries sustained from the incident.
