Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Offense:
On February 4, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Yeicop Menjivar went to his ex-girlfriend's home at 200 Block Kent Road in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. According to police, Menjivar banged on the door and demanded to speak with his ex-girlfriend, whom he had broken up with on December 30, 2023. The ex-girlfriend woke up and came downstairs, and she and Menjivar engaged in a heated verbal argument on the first floor. The victim, Keneri Montoya Santos (age 24), the ex-girlfriend's brother, intervened to de-escalate the situation. The confrontation escalated and moved to the basement, where Menjivar and Montoya got into a physical fight. During the altercation, Menjivar pulled out a handgun and shot Montoya once in the head/forehead. After the shooting, Menjivar fled the residence and told his ex-girlfriend, "I warned your brother" as he left. Montoya was transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where he was placed on life support. He was declared brain dead and taken off life support on February 6, 2024, with his family donating his organs.
Additional Details:
Menjivar was last seen driving a blue Honda Civic with a loud exhaust and a rear spoiler, bearing Pennsylvania license plate LWH-4182. Traffic cameras recorded the vehicle being driven around Upper Darby following the incident, with the vehicle last seen heading toward Philadelphia. Police later learned that the car was registered to a friend of Menjivar's, who had put it in his name as a favor. The weapon used in the shooting was not recovered from the scene, and police believe Menjivar remains armed and dangerous. Menjivar is facing first-degree and third-degree murder charges, as well as burglary and gun offenses according to the arrest affidavit. An active felony warrant is out for his arrest. The victim's family described Montoya as a devoted uncle and humble, social Honduran native who died protecting his sister from an abusive ex-boyfriend. Police have urged anyone with information about Menjivar's whereabouts to contact Upper Darby Police at 610-734-3439 or 911. Superintendent Tim Bernhardt stated that Menjivar "knows he's being wanted, so he's going to flee and do whatever he can to protect himself." As of this posting, Pennsylvania’s court records database confirms that Menjivar is not in custody and remains at large.
