Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Offense:

On September 8, 2024, around 3 a.m., deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 9000 block of Norton-Waldo Road in Marlboro Township. The victim, found lying in the grass outside the home, was unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest and the left side of his head. A witness reported that there were several people inside the home, as many as eight, who did not speak English, and that an older model Hyundai Santa Fe with Indiana plates often seen at the home was not in the driveway. The witness stated he heard yelling outside the home followed by three or four gunshots before calling 911 at 3:20 a.m. Munguia is accused of shooting Jimenez eight times with a .45 caliber weapon after an altercation.

Additional Details:

Munguia is being charged with murder and aggravated murder. Shortly after 8 p.m. on Sunday, the Delaware County Sheriff's Office announced it issued a warrant for Munguia. Witnesses at the scene indicated several individuals came out of the home at the direction of responding deputies, and at least two were taken to the Delaware County Jail for questioning. Deputies charged Munguia's brother, Sebastian Vasquez-Munguia, 21, with obstruction for falsely telling investigators that he drove his brother to the Indiana/Ohio state line in a black Honda Civic. Charging documents revealed that Sebastian had provided transportation to Bruno, but the vehicle was later found in Sebastian's garage when deputies executed a search warrant. The car was covered in the victim's blood. The Delaware County Sheriff's Office is collaborating with the U.S. Marshals Service to locate Munguia. As of this posting, Munguia’s aggravated murder case in Delaware County’s court records database is in open status with no disposition and no filings since 2024. This unfortunately confirms that Munguia is still at large.
