Summary:

On July 28, 2016, Rosalyn Saxsenmeier (W/F/71) went for a short walk at the Silver Valley Campground on the east end of Lake Alpine in Bear Valley, CA. She has never been seen again. Saxsenmeier was last seen wearing a yellow or blue short-sleeved shirt, blue shorts, canvas tennis shoes, and wire rimmed reading glasses.

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Rosalyn Saxsenmeier was last seen in Bear Valley, California on July 28, 2016. She was at the Silver Valley Campground on Lake Alpine when she went for a short walk around 2:00PM carrying only a flashlight, and never returned. She has never been heard from again. About a month prior to this disappearance in June 2016, on another trip, Rosalyn went for a walk to watch the sunset at Manzanita Lake and had gotten lost. She was found safe at 6:00AM the next morning. According to her husband, Saxsenmeier was in good health at the time of her disappearance, enjoyed hiking and was familiar with the local area. Her case remains unsolved.

Additional Details:

She may have been wearing the following pieces of jewelry: • A custom necklace with a blue/green opal stone on a very thin gold chain • A silver, round pendant (a rocking horse with cut-outs on all four sides of the rocking horse) on a silver chain • Watch (basic watch; not digital) • Gold wedding band

July 28, 2016 - Approximately 5:00PM, Alpine County Search and Rescue (SAR) members were dispatched and immediately began searching the area.

July 28, 2016 - At approximately 3:30PM, Rosalyn’s husband, Bill Saxsenmeier, got concerned after not having seeing her in a while and notified the camp host. The camp host then notified the local sheriff’s office.

July 28, 2016 - At approximately 2:00PM, Rosalyn went for what was supposed to a short hike.
