Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Kaylee Birt was going to visit her Nana (Grandma Sheri) in Shenandoah, Iowa on April 3rd, 2025. Along the way Kaylee lets her best friend and roommate, Lindsey Hastings, know that she only had a quarter of a tank of gas while she was in Denio Junction, Nevada. Lindsay encouraged Kaylee to drive back Klamath Falls, Oregon since the pumps at the gas station were closed/locked. Kaylee agreed to drive back to Klamath Falls, Oregon. Later Kaylee texted saying she was trying to make it to Winnemucca. Lindsey made multiple attempts to call and text Kaylee but Kaylee didn’t respond. Kaylee’s mother spoke to her at midnight, Kaylee was lost and scared. On the morning of Friday, April 4, 2025, Kaylee’s Nana received a phone call from Kaylee who was using a local rancher’s phone north of Fields, Oregon. Kaylee tells Nana that her phone reset or isn’t working and that she is out of gas. The local rancher provides Kaylee with 3 gallons of gas and directs her towards the Fields General Store. Kaylee left and came back shortly after. She tells the rancher she never made it to Fields General Store. The rancher gives Kaylee an additional 3 gallons of gas and drives behind her to Fields General Store. Kaylee pays for gas with cash and fills up. Cameras at the general store show Kaylee leaving south on HWY 205. The rancher is concerned about Kaylee and contacts the local authorities. Kaylee’s car was found on April, 6, 2025, on Trout Creek Mountain RD. The road had washed out, Kaylee had stopped, but her car was drivable. Kaylee’s vehicle still had a half tank of gas. In her vehicle were Kaylee’s phone, keys and wallet.
