Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Robert Dean Miller was last heard from by his family in early June 2025. His mother, Kay Sparks, last spoke to him on the phone in June. Shortly after, in the first few days of June, his vehicle was found being driven by someone else, and his beloved dog was taken to an animal shelter and reported as a stray on June 8, 2025. Miller did not show up for work starting June 8, 2025. In August 2025, he was captured on security camera using a machine inside the Walmart on South Memorial Parkway in Huntsville on August 18, 2025. On September 28, 2025, his bank card information was used at an ATM located across the street from the Walmart. Since that time, there has been no further confirmed contact or sighting.
Additional Details:
Huntsville Police Department began investigating Miller's disappearance on December 6, 2025, after his sister Heather Bowers-Creager discovered that his dog had been reported missing and brought concerns to police. Initially, the family's attempts to report him missing earlier in the year were met with skepticism from authorities, who suggested that as an adult, he was allowed to go missing. Police spokesman Sergeant Chris Jackson stated that based on investigation information, Mr. Miller may be a member of the unsheltered community. Miller is believed to be likely homeless and, as an Army veteran, may be suffering from PTSD. An investigation statement indicates the case remains open and active, with investigators continuing to pursue leads. There is no evidence indicating foul play. Miller has been entered into multiple law enforcement databases nationwide. Since the initial December 2025 media coverage, calls came in from the public but none led to locating Miller. His family continues to actively search for him and appeals to the public for information. As of April 2026, it had been nearly a year since the family last heard from him.
