Summary:
John Anthony "Chucky" Contreras, 17, of Kyle, is wanted for attempted capital murder of multiple persons following a shooting incident that occurred around 1:25 a.m. in the 1600 block of Post Road in San Marcos on November 2, 2025. Investigators determined that a fight near the pool area led to gunfire at the Outpost Apartments.

Circumstances of Offense:
A phone call was received at 1:23 a.m. on Nov. 2 regarding a shooting that occurred during a large fight at the Outpost Apartments pool. Multiple people called police to report a fight that turned into a shooting at The Outpost apartment complex in the 1600 block of Post Road. When officers arrived at the complex, they found shell casings and "a large amount of blood" near the pool. One person was injured and was taken to a hospital by friends before officers arrived. One person was also "pistol whipped" by a second suspect. A large fight had broken out at the pool area and was recorded on video. They believe they know the identity of the shooting suspect. One victim was taken by friends to Christus Santa Rosa Hospital, and police said blood trails at the scene suggested there may be another victim.

The U.S. Marshals Service is aiding in the search for Contreras, according to a press release from the San Marcos Police Department. Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest, with tips accepted anonymously. D'antrae Houston, 17, was arrested on Nov. 6 in Lockhart for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon in connection with the same incident, but Contreras remains at large. A large fight occurred at the apartment's pool and it was recorded. Detectives have a large suspicion on the shooter's identity. SMPD is actively working to identify and arrest both individuals.
