Summary:

Melvyn C.C. Frazier, 21, was shot and killed in the early morning hours of June 22, 2025, in Reading, Pennsylvania during a physical altercation at a house party. He was a recent graduate of Reading High School who had moved to Virginia with his family but was visiting for the summer. As of January 2026, the murder remains officially unsolved.

Circumstances of Offense:

Melvyn Frazier spent June 21, 2025, with his aunt Hydeia Jallo attending an art festival called 'Art on the Avenue' in Reading. That evening, he attended a house party on Lorraine Road in the Hampden Park neighborhood. The party continued until daybreak. In the early morning hours of June 22, 2025, around 5:00 a.m., a physical altercation erupted between several people at the party. During this altercation, Frazier was shot in the chest. He was found in the 1200 block of Oak Lane, near the party location, and was transported to Tower Health Reading Hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy was conducted on Monday, June 23, 2025.

Additional Details:

Melvyn was born in Reading on February 23, 2004, but had moved to Lynchburg, Virginia with his immediate family. He was a proud graduate of Reading High School, Class of 2023, and had completed the Emerging Entrepreneurs Academy program at Penn State Berks. He was passionate about business and creativity, and dreamed of launching his own clothing brand called Saint Melly 223. He was a member of Lighthouse Christian Center in Reading. A memorial service was held on Friday, June 27, 2025, at Lighthouse Christian Center. Interment followed at Charles Evans Cemetery in Reading. According to the Berks County District Attorney's office report released January 6, 2026, the Melvyn Frazier shooting is one of only two unsolved murders in Berks County as of that date. Law enforcement agencies involved in the investigation include the Reading Police Department and the Berks County District Attorney's Office.
