Circumstances of Offense:

On Monday, September 1, 2025, at approximately 11:35-11:50 a.m., a disturbance occurred at the Oakmoor Apartments located at 11900 Oakmoor Parkway in southwest Houston, near Highway 288 and West Airport Boulevard. According to witnesses and Ring doorbell video reviewed by police, a man known to the victim's girlfriend only as "Meche" (Demeche Williams) banged on the victim's apartment door. The suspect was angry about something the victim had posted on Instagram. After the victim went back into the apartment, police video showed the suspect remained at the location, pacing back and forth with a firearm. The victim later went back outside, at which point the suspect discharged a firearm multiple times, striking the victim three times in the parking lot. Officers responded to the shooting call and found the victim unresponsive with gunshot wounds. Paramedics pronounced Steven Williams deceased at the scene.

Additional Details:

Following investigation, Demeche Williams was identified as the suspect and charged with murder in the 176th State District Court after consultation with the Harris County District Attorney's Office. As of the latest available information, Williams remained at large and was the subject of an active manhunt by the Houston Police Department Homicide Division. Witnesses interviewed by police confirmed they heard the suspect banging on the door and saw him shoot the victim multiple times. The case remains actively investigated.
