Timeline of Events
Investigators received notice that the remains had been identified as Mitchell Walters, who had been reported missing to the GCSO in July 2025. His family has been notified.
Investigators were notified that a DNA profile had been successfully developed from the remains. They entered the profile into CODIS for comparison to try to find the identity of the deceased person.
Deputies responded to a private property in that area where a human skull had been discovered. Investigators submitted the remains to University of North Texas Center for Human Identification in Dallas for forensic analysis.
