Died August 14, 1998, by suicide by jumping from Menands Bridge, New York; he died before trial and was never convicted
This record documents arrests, charges and convictions reported by courts, law enforcement agencies and news organizations. Every statement is tied to a cited source with an archived copy. A charge is an accusation, not proof of guilt; a person charged is presumed innocent unless convicted. Solve the Case does not allege that this person committed any offense beyond what the cited records state, and this record is not a suggestion that the person is connected to any unsolved case. How records are built, corrected and removed.
Summary of the record
Gary Charles Evans (October 7, 1954 – August 14, 1998) was a confessed serial killer in and around the Capital District, New York. On August 12, 1998, he was formally charged with eight counts of murder, and prosecutors said they would decide over the next 120 days whether to try him as a capital offender facing death by lethal injection. On June 18, 1998, Evans confessed to the murders of Falco, Cuomo and Rysedorph, and also confessed to killing two shop owners, Douglas Berry of Watertown and Gregory Jouben of Little Falls, while he robbed their stores. He died before trial by suicide by jumping from Menands Bridge, New York, on August 14, 1998.
Documented Arrests, Charges and Convictions
