This record documents arrests, charges and convictions reported by courts, law enforcement agencies and news organizations. Every statement is tied to a cited source with an archived copy. A charge is an accusation, not proof of guilt; a person charged is presumed innocent unless convicted. Solve the Case does not allege that this person committed any offense beyond what the cited records state, and this record is not a suggestion that the person is connected to any unsolved case. How records are built, corrected and removed.
Summary of the record
Derrick Todd Lee, also known as The Baton Rouge Serial Killer, was an American serial killer and rapist who murdered at least seven women around Baton Rouge and Lafayette, Louisiana, between 1998 and 2003. In 2004, he was convicted in separate trials of the murders of Geralyn DeSoto and Charlotte Murray Pace. The Pace trial resulted in a death sentence. Lee spent twelve years on death row at Louisiana State Penitentiary before dying of heart disease at a hospital in 2016.
Documented Arrests, Charges and Convictions

Warner, a 41-year-old accountant, is believed to be Lee's first victim. After disappearing from her home on August 24, 1992, her body was found about a week later near a lake. Any evidence that could lead to her attacker had been washed away by Hurricane Andrew, which hit Baton Rouge on August 26.
