Richard Daniel Starrett was convicted of kidnapping, sexual assault, and murder in South Carolina and Georgia. Between 1987 and 1989, Starrett abducted at least four young women and a teenage girl through classified newspaper advertisements, sexually assaulting them at his home in Martinez, Georgia.
