Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

Arthur was last seen alive on February 4th 1977. His mother, Ann Noske reported that he disappeared from the Parmatown Shopping Center in Cleveland, Ohio on February 8th 1977. She claimed they were shopping for linens in the May Co. store and that Arthur wanted to go to the game room and play the machines. Ann told him they would shortly and turned back to her shopping. When she looked back, her son was gone. Police and volunteers searched the shopping center as well as surrounding areas but no trace of the boy could be found. Investigators initially suspected Arthur had wandered away from the mall and made his way towards his grandmother’s home located at 3353 West 91st Street in Cleveland, Ohio. He never arrived there though. Investigators also looked into the possibility that a stranger abducted the boy while his mother wasn't looking but no evidence surfaced to prove this.

Additional Details:

On February 18th 1977, Ann was interviewed again regarding her son’s disappearance and changed her story about what happened. Ann said that her boyfriend, Dr. Stuart S. Kutler, became enraged after finding the boy awake at 8:00 pm watching television on the night of February 7th instead of being in bed. In response, Kutler viciously beat Arthur until he was no longer moving. He wrapped the boy’s body in a blanket and put it in his car before driving away. Kutler returned 90 minutes later without Arthur and they both concocted the story of him disappearing from the mall to cover their tracks. Arthur and his mother had moved into Stuart’s home located at 11679 Snowville Road in Brecksville, Ohio three weeks before his murder. Stuart was arrested and eventually convicted of aggravated murder in connection with Arthur’s death. He was sentenced to six to twenty five years in prison. Kutler died of pneumonia while serving his sentence in March 1978. Despite extensive searches, no trace of Arthur’s remains have ever been found. Police believe he is deceased but he continues to be listed as a missing person.
