53-year-old Zelma Andersons skeletal remains were found near McDowell, KY in an old Orkney strip-mine on December 23rd, 1982- almost five months after she disappeared - murdered and shown signs of sexual assault. As of yet, there are no known suspects. Suspected of multiple assailants.

Zelma was a hairdresser from Floyd County, KY. Her remains were found by teenagers foraging for coal. On August 11th, 1982, state police were alerted by Mary Anderson (the victims sister), that her sister, Zelma Anderson had been missing since that Monday, August 2nd and that efforts to locate her by several relatives had been unsuccessful.
