Summary:
Amy Pagnac mysteriously disappeared from her father’s car while at a gas station in Osseo, Minnesota during the summer of 1989. No one has seen or heard from her since that date. Foul play is suspected in the case which remains unsolved.
Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
Amy was last seen in Osseo, Minnesota on August 5th 1989. She was with her father, Marshall Midden at the time. They had spent the previous day at their organic farm in Isanti County, Minnesota and were on their way back home to Maple Grove when they stopped at the Holiday Inn gas station at 4:30 pm that afternoon. Midden went inside the station to quickly use the bathroom and left Amy in the car. When he came back outside, he noticed Amy was no longer in their parked car. She has never been seen or heard from again. Police initially suspected that she left on her own accord. She had run away several times previously and was reportedly having problems during that summer. She always returned home on her own after a short period of time, however. This time, she never contacted anyone she knew again. Pagnac was prone to seizures and it’s possible she had one while Midden was inside the building. She might’ve become disoriented and wandered away from the vehicle. There’s no evidence to support this and no witnesses besides Midden have come forward to even report seeing Amy at the gas station that day.
Additional Details:
Police have also theorized someone might’ve abducted Amy while she was alone that afternoon. Many missing children agencies classify Amy’s case as a “Non-Family Abduction” but no evidence exists to support this theory. No suspects have ever been identified in the case. In May of 2014, Maple Grove police and the FBI searched Amy’s childhood home for possible evidence related to her case. They executed a search warrant at the home which was located in the 9700 block of Hemlock Lane North in Maple Grove, Minnesota but nothing was value was found during this search. In June of 2014, investigators executed another search warrant at a property near the 37000 block of Verdin Street Northwest in connection with Amy’s case. This location was near the organic farm where Amy and Midden had spent the day prior to her disappearance. Again, nothing of interest was found during this search. Police have stated that neither of Amy’s parents have been identified as suspects in the case. The two have refused to move from their home in case Amy tries to locate them someday. They have never given up hope of her being found.
