Vital Statistics
Circumstances of Disappearance:
On August 7, 1997 Casey told his father and a co-worker that he had been threatened by some loggers. Casey and his father set-up a meeting for the following weekend to discuss what was going on. He left his shift at the Waffle House at 4:30am on the 8th and was last seen later that morning at a gas station in Marshall, Texas. He was driving his cream-colored 1990 Isuzu pickup truck with the Texas license plate number 665-5VP at the time of his disappearance. Morgan's vehicle was discovered abandoned in a wooded area of Marion County north of Marshall, Texas some time after he was last seen. The truck was locked, there were bullets scattered on the floor, and his 30-30 Winchester rifle was missing from the vehicle. The land where the truck was parked had previously belonged to his family, but by the time of his disappearance they had sold it.
Additional Details:
In 1979, he and three co-workers were hit by a drunk driver. He was one of two survivors. His legs were crushed and splintered requiring numerous surgeries and hospitalization for several years. He was determined to work again, which he accomplished. Following a lengthy recovery, he became a long-haul truck driver. He then worked for the Transportation Department, which involved working on Interstate 20 near Marshall, Texas. He then lived in Marshall, Texas, caring for his grandmother and working at The Waffle House. It's unclear whether these loggers were ever identified and if they had anything to do with his case. Authorities searched the area where the vehicle was found, but Morgan was not found. His case has been featured recently on two podcasts, Vanished and Within the Twisted Reach. A Facebook page has also been established under the name of Missing Casey Morgan. Investigators have collected DNA samples, which are submitted to the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, from the closest family members of each individual missing. These DNA submissions are entered into a nationwide database used for comparison purposes with unidentified bodies and skeletal remains throughout the country.
