Summary:

Nancy Kareen Moyer, a 36-year-old financial analyst living in Tenino, Washington, disappeared from her home on March 6, 2009, under unexplained circumstances. Extensive searches of the surrounding area produced no trace of her, and investigators concluded that foul play was likely. She remains missing, and the case is unsolved.

Vital Statistics

Circumstances of Disappearance:

On Friday, March 6, 2009, Nancy Moyer got off work from her job as a financial analyst for the State of Washington and drove a co-worker home around 5:15 PM. She stopped at Dave's Thriftway Market in Tenino for a few items, around 6:45 PM, before returning to her home on the 700 block of State Route 507 in Tenino. She was last seen between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. by a police officer who observed her carrying shopping bags from her car. Her two daughters were with their dad, Bill Moyer, for the weekend; Nancy and Bill had been separated since 2007 and were on good terms, sharing custody of their two daughters. On Sunday, March 8, between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM, Bill brought their daughters back to her home and found that the front door was ajar. The girls ran into the house and Nancy was nowhere to be found; the TV was on, the living room lights were on, a glass of red wine was on the coffee table, and the bedroom bedside lamp was on. All of Nancy's IDs were still there; her purse, car keys, and wallet were all in the house, and her car was parked out front. An extensive search of the home turned up no indications of a break-in or a struggle.

Additional Details:

Moyer does not own a cellular phone, and her credit cards and bank accounts have not been used since her disappearance. Her family stated she would never have left of her own accord and abandoned her daughters. She wasn't dating anyone or having any personal problems at the time of her disappearance, and she had no drug issues or mental illness that could explain her disappearance. Family and friends handed out fliers and offered a $55,000 reward — later increased to $105,000 — for information leading to her return. On July 9, 2019, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Roberts reportedly called 911 to confess to the killing of Nancy Moyer. When speaking to authorities in July 2019, Eric Lee Roberts allegedly admitted to accidentally strangling Nancy Moyer to death during 'rough sex,' but he later recanted his statement. After Roberts retracted his confession, however, the prosecution said they didn't yet have enough evidence to file murder charges against him. He remains in custody on weapons charges and the prosecution hopes to be able to file murder charges against him at a later date. Eric Lee Roberts — Nancy's former neighbor and co-worker — allegedly called 911 to confess to murdering her. Over the years, several individuals were examined for possible relevance to the case, including Bernard K. Howell III, though no evidence linked him to her disappearance.
