Alyse Brown, 36, of Barstow is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in Barstow on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026. Jessie Moore, of Adelanto was shot and killed in the 200 block of North First Avenue in Barstow on Friday, Jan. 16, 2026. Brown fled and has remained a fugitive ever since, wanted on suspicion of murder. She is considered "armed and dangerous."

Officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 200 block of N. First Avenue on Friday, January 16, 2026, at approximately 11:39 p.m. Upon arrival, officers began searching for a victim and potential witnesses. While on scene, dispatch was contacted by Barstow Community Hospital reporting that a shooting victim had just arrived for treatment. Officers responded to the hospital and located Jessie Moore, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite medical efforts, Moore was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. Moore and Brown were friends and Moore had attended a barbecue at Brown's home in the hours before the shooting. The two women went to the bar on the night of the shooting. At some point, Brown got into a fight with another patron. Brown ultimately shot at another person before shooting Moore twice, striking her in the chest and in the arm. Brown fled and has remained a fugitive ever since, wanted on suspicion of murder.

Barstow Police Detectives and Evidence Technicians assumed the investigation, interviewed several witnesses, and gathered evidence. The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Alyse Brown, a Barstow resident. A warrant for PC 187(a) – Murder was issued for Brown, who remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Moore is survived by three children aged 8, 10 and 14, as well as two sisters, a brother and 20 nieces and nephews.
