A 16-year-old girl was stabbed 21 times with a large knife in her home in Griffith, Indiana on October 13, 1987. Her body was found partially disemboweled with hands tied behind her back with strips of cloth. Lockhart obtained her purse and ID, which were later recovered in a different victim's purse he had stolen.

A 14-year-old girl was murdered in her home in Land O' Lakes, Florida on January 20, 1988. Lockhart entered the home without forced entry, bound her arms, strangled her with a towel, stabbed her at least 7 times in the abdomen with a kitchen knife inflicting deep wounds that exposed internal organs, and sexually assaulted her as she lay dying. Lockhart pleaded guilty on October 26, 1989.

Officer Paul Douglas Hulsey Jr., age 30, was shot while attempting to arrest Lockhart for driving a stolen Chevrolet Corvette in Beaumont, Texas. Hulsey was shot through the heart; one shot went through his forearm. Lockhart punched the officer, grabbed a gun and shot him multiple times.
